Schaefer Associates, Inc. has been in the gift and gourmet business for 60 years. Founded in 1948 by Mr. & Mrs. Ken Schaefer, the company was owned from 1986-2004 by their daughter. In June of 2004, Michael Harshbarger, a sales rep with Schaefer Associates since 1997, purchased the corporation.
Our company has six sales reps covering the five state area of Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and southern Illinois. Our business office is located in St. Louis, Missouri.
Customer service is a Schaefer Associates tradition. We pride ourselves in going that extra mile for our customers and vendors. Our current rep force has over 40 years of service with the company. It is this kind of dedication that has earned Schaefer Associates the respect of industry leaders.
Michael, with a background in retail, owned and managed a gift and gourmet store in his hometown of Keokuk, Iowa before joining Schaefer Associates.
In May of 2004, Eddie Neuenschwander joined Schaefer Associates as Showroom/Office Manager. Eddie’s many years of accounting and bookkeeping experience keeps our organization running smoothly. In April of 2007, he became VP of Operations for Schaefer Associates, Inc. Eddie is in the office Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to assist our customers.
Schaefer Associates has been honored with awards for Sales Group of the Year by four of our vendors for 2006 and/or 2007. Xcell International, Coffee Masters, Wind & Willow, and Country Living Collection have recognized our organization for outstanding sales and service to our customers. A big "thank you" to these companies and to our customers!
